Players Name |
Description |
 |
Chris C |
Chris is
"Probably our most consistent player" or so the Cheltenham Echo
once reported. He
is one of the founding members of the team and can be relied to rescue the
team in a crisis. Chris has captained the side for a number of years in the
past and has won the averages for the most amount of times. |
 |
Chris B
|
Chris "Nicey"
has now been playing for a number of years. He normally throws to a
rendition of "Who ate all the pies". Chris tries to throw the ball so hard
that he normally ends up hitting everything else but the pins. Nicey has
captained the side for a number of years in the past and has won the
averages twice. |
 |
Colin |
Colin "Steady Eddy" likes to be our
first player to throw. He is normally steady as a rock and we know if he
does well, then the team usually does well. Colin is currently our treasurer this
year. He also looks after all our tour savings and collects it every week.
Colin also records the scores for the averages. |
 |
Darren |
Darren decided to rejoin the
skittles after an absence of a number of years. Welcome back Darren. He is
left handed and therefore has an advantage over some of us especially when
we visit old and rather tatty alleys. Darren used to stick up for us before
he was old enough to play for the team. Darren is a contender for the
averages one day. |
 |
Gus |
Gus "The Scotsman" is our
token "Jock". He normally throws to the rest of the team singing "I'd rather be
Bin Laden than a Jock" or "Flower of Scotland" He always seems to play
better when its noisy and everyone is barracking. Gus is the current
Allsorts Webmaster. Gus has captained the side
for a number of years in the past and has won the averages twice. |

Ian |
Ian "Twinkle Toes"
has, for a number of years now been trying, unsuccessfully, to analyse the game to try and
improve his scores. I think most of the time he just shuts his eyes. This year
he says he has worked it out. Well lets see.... |
 |
Howard |
Howard "The plumber" has played for
the side for many years. His father was the first player to win the averages
in 1976. Howard tends to play much better after a few beers. Howard has
captained the side for a number of years in the past. |
 |
Jim |
Jim "Fossil" is our elder
statesman. Jim has also played for a number of years. His tour reputation
goes before him and he always seems to have a smile on his face, even when
he is playing skittles. |
 |
John |
John is our newest recruit. This is
his first season so with beginners luck etc he will do well. Chris C. has
been doing training sessions so we are expecting great things..... |
 |
Kevin |
Kevin "Fitzy" can always be relied
on to deliver the right comment at the wrong time. Such as saying "Not a
good time for a beaver" results in a low score. Kevin normally only barracks
after he has played himself. Kevin has won the
averages in the past. |
 |
Mike |
Mike "Stavros Kebab" is
our token welsh edition. Apparently he can be seen selling Kebabs every Saturday
night in Cheltenham. He normally throws to sheep bleating sounds. This seems
to encourage him to throw well. He is the secretary of the side this year
and so handles all the team paper work. |
 |
Roger
(V. Captain) |
Roger "Move it" is another long
serving member of the team. Roger is Darren's dad and has taught him well.
Roger throws the ball very hard which usually knocks lots more pins down or
so the theory goes. Roger
has won the averages four times and was runner up last season.
|
 |
Simon (Captain) |
Simon "Bomber" is our
youngest player. This is his fourth season in the side although he has played
skittles before in the Gloucester league. Simon tries to bounce the ball,
sometimes right on to the pins. Simon is this seasons captain and he hopes
to finish the season at the Town Hall with the League Trophy in his hands.
Best of luck with that one Simon! |
 |
Steve |
Steve "Smirker" can always be seen at the front on the
queue when the food comes out. This is usually sausage and chips or
sandwiches. he can then be seen queuing for seconds before the rest of the
team have even had their first lot. Steve has played for many years. He has
also captained the side in the past.
|
 |
Terry |
Terry "I've not had a decent fall all
night" is our anchor man. He loves the pressure of playing at the end.
He can usually be relied on to win us the game or dig us out of trouble. He has played for a number of
years and has captained the side for a number of years in the past and has
won the averages for the second most amount of times. |
